True health is greater than the sum of its parts with “&Wholism” Movement.
Tieraona Low Dog, M.D. and INNATE Response™ are teaming up to support a movement in health and wellness, they call “&Wholism.” Dr. Low Dog reveals what this means for practitioners in a webinar, open to Today’s Practitioner readers (see the video below, register here).
In the webinar, Dr. Low Dog will “explore the strengths and limitations of reductionism, and the powerful benefits that can result when practitioners find deeper points of connection.” She will discuss what we know about binary connections between habits and health, how our bodies and humanity are connected to the planet, as well the link between our bodies, plants and even each other.
Innate Response, makers of a practitioner line of supplements – many based on whole foods – believe strongly that medicine has long relied too long on breaking everything down to fulfill a need to “simplify and classify” what is known. Now that we better understand our world, it’s time to return to a more holistic approach to wellness.
Dr. Low Dog admits without apology that a reductionist approach has led to some amazing discoveries. For instance, the atom and how the double helix structure of DNA is the building block of life. And how the mapping out of the secrets of the human genome has given us the ability to peer inside the body and see what’s happening on a molecular level. These and many other technological leaps would not be possible without embracing reductionist thinking. Reductionism has benefited our health.
However, there are drawbacks. Namely, Dr. Low Dog says that when we try to “reduce large, dynamically complex systems down to their smallest, constituent parts, something happens.” She says, “we can lose our sense of the whole.”
The webinar is the first of many discussions Dr Low Dog will lead on how our existence and human health is intricately linked to our surroundings and the gifts that nature has given us. Register now so you don’t miss this webinar and others in the future.
