Curcuma longa extract improves serum infammatory markers and mental health in healthy participants who are overweight: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

For Overweight Patients, Think Curcumin

Curcumin can help your overweight patients by reducing inflammation and boosting their mood. Exciting new research from Nutrition Journal shows that Curcumin longa extract (CLE) helps lower the inflammatory marker C-reactive protein in healthy overweight people aged 50 to 69. But the benefits don’t end there: CLE also improved scores for mental health among participants not in the placebo group. And those taking CLE also lost weight.

Key Study Details:
• 12-week randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial featuring 90 participants.
• To assess mental health, participants completed Profile of Mood States (POMS) questionnaires.
• Researchers used a hot water extract and supercritical carbon dioxide extract of C. Longa
